Stage 3 is the tightest time window in the FBI Qualification Test — just 2 seconds to fire 3 rounds from the low ready position at 5 yards. There is no draw; the pistol starts in your hands, pointed at the ground about 45 degrees below the target.
Two seconds for three rounds sounds generous until you factor in the presentation from low ready to a proper sight picture. The time budget is approximately 0.7 seconds for the first shot and 0.5–0.6 seconds per split. Every tenth of a second matters on this stage.
The FBI Qualification Test is a 50-round standardized pistol course used by the FBI and adopted by law enforcement agencies worldwide. It uses the FBI-QIT-99 bottle-shaped target and is fired from concealment at distances from 3 to 25 yards. Passing score is 80% (40 hits). Instructor qualification requires 90% (45 hits).

Scoring
Any hit inside the scored area of the FBI-QIT-99 counts as 1 point (max 3). Part of the overall 50-round qualification — passing requires 40/50 (80%).
Tips
Do not slap the trigger to make up time. The 2-second par is achieved through a fast, smooth presentation — not by shooting faster than you can track your sights.
Progression
Focus on a smooth, fast presentation from low ready to full extension. Dry fire the presentation until you can reach your sights in under 0.6 seconds. Goal: 3 hits under 1.8 seconds.
