Stage 7 is the support-side shooting stage. From low ready, fire 2 rounds using your non-dominant shoulder at 10 yards within 4 seconds. Repeat twice for 4 rounds total.
Shooting a carbine from the support shoulder is fundamentally different from pistol support-hand work. You must switch your entire cheek weld, eye dominance, and trigger hand. If you are right-handed, your left hand now runs the trigger while your right hand supports the forend. The safety selector, magazine release, and bolt catch are all on the wrong side.
Cross-eye dominance is the biggest challenge. If you are right-eye dominant but shooting left-shouldered, you either close your dominant eye or learn to use your non-dominant eye. Neither is fast at first.
Stand facing a USPSA/IPSC target at 10 yards. Carbine loaded, held at low ready on the support (non-dominant) shoulder. Safety on. Shot timer set to 4-second par.
IPSC scoring: A/B = 5, C = 4, D = 3. Max per string: 10 pts. Stage total (2 strings): 20 pts.
Pre-stage with the carbine already on the support shoulder at low ready. Do not try to transition shoulders on the clock — this is a support-side presentation drill, not a transition drill.
Practice support-side dry fire daily — mounting, cheek weld, trigger press, and safety manipulation with the non-dominant hand. Build the neural pathways before adding live fire. Goal: 20/20.
