Stage 5 is a two-signal stage at 10 yards. On the first buzzer, you draw and fire 2 rounds within 4 seconds, then return to low ready. On the second buzzer, you fire 2 more rounds within 3 seconds. This sequence is repeated twice for 8 rounds total.

This stage tests your ability to engage, disengage, and re-engage. The second string from low ready has a tighter par (3 seconds vs. 4), which means you need to stay in the shooting position and be ready to present immediately. The mental discipline of waiting for the second signal without anticipating is key.

Range Setup

Setup

Stand facing a USPSA/IPSC target at 10 yards. Pistol loaded and holstered. Shot timer set with two start signals: first string 4-second par, second string 3-second par (random delay between signals).

Scoring

IPSC scoring: A/B = 5, C = 4, D = 3. Max per rep (4 rounds): 20 pts. Stage total (2 reps): 40 pts.

Tips

After the first pair, go to low ready but stay aggressive — keep your eyes on the target, weight forward. When the second buzzer hits, your presentation should be shorter and faster than the initial draw.

Progression

Practice the two-signal drill by setting a random second start on your timer. The second string should feel faster because you are already in position. Goal: 40/40 points.
