Stage 8 combines three skills in one string at 15 yards: draw, shoot standing, transition to kneeling with an emergency reload, then shoot kneeling. You have 12 seconds for the full sequence — 2 rounds standing, reload while dropping to a knee, 2 rounds kneeling.
This is the first truly complex stage in the qualification. Three separate skill components chained together under one par time. The most common failure point is the reload-while-kneeling transition — practicing this specific combination is essential.
Stand facing a USPSA/IPSC target at 15 yards. Primary magazine loaded with 2 rounds. Spare magazine with 2+ rounds on belt. Pistol holstered. Timer set to 12 seconds.
IPSC scoring: A/B = 5, C = 4, D = 3. Max: 20 pts. Single string.
Start the reload as you begin dropping to the knee — do not wait until you are kneeling to start the magazine change. Multi-tasking the position change with the reload is the time saver.
Break the stage into three phases and drill each: (1) draw + 2 shots standing, (2) kneel + reload, (3) 2 shots kneeling. Then chain them. Goal: 20/20 points under 10 seconds.
