Stage 1 opens the MARSOC Qualification with a demanding three-position sequence at 50 yards. From low ready, fire 2 rounds standing, transition to kneeling for 2 rounds, then drop to prone for 2 more — all 6 rounds within a 10-second par time.
At 50 yards with a carbine, managing three position changes under time pressure while wearing tactical vest and helmet tests both physical fitness and weapon handling. The standing shots are the hardest — your platform is least stable, the vest restricts your mount, and the helmet pushes your cheek weld. Each position transition must be smooth and fast without sacrificing muzzle discipline.
Stand facing a Marine E silhouette (or USPSA/IPSC) target at 50 yards. Carbine loaded, on safe, in low ready. Tactical vest and helmet worn. Shot timer set to 10-second par. Ensure clear space for kneeling and prone positions. Safety selector must be engaged when not pointing at the target.
MARSOC scoring per round: A zone (5/4 areas) = 2 pts, B/C zone (3 area) = 1 pt, D/miss = 0 pts. Max for stage: 12 pts (6 rounds). Part of the 100-point qualification — passing requires 80 pts (80%).
With helmet and vest, your cheek weld changes. Verify your cheek-to-stock index in all three positions during dry fire before running the stage live. The helmet rim catches the stock on the way up — learn to tilt your head slightly to clear it.
Practice the standing-to-kneeling-to-prone sequence as one fluid motion in full kit. The gear slows every transition. Goal: all 6 rounds in A-zone under 8 seconds. If standing shots are dropping, spend extra time stabilizing before firing — you can make it up in prone.
