Stage 2 adds a full sprint before shooting. Starting at low ready at 50 yards, sprint forward to the 25-yard line, then fire 2 rounds standing and 2 rounds kneeling — all within 11 seconds including the run.
The sprint-to-shoot transition is a core MARSOC skill. Running in full tactical kit (vest and helmet) elevates your heart rate significantly. By the time you reach 25 yards, your breathing is heavy, your hands are shaking slightly, and the optic is bouncing. The ability to arrive at a position, stabilize rapidly, and deliver accurate fire is what separates operational shooters from range shooters.
Stand facing a Marine E silhouette (or USPSA/IPSC) target at 50 yards. Carbine loaded, on safe, in low ready. Vest and helmet worn. Shot timer set to 11-second par. Clear lane for forward sprint to 25 yards. Safety selector must be engaged when not pointing at target.
MARSOC scoring: A zone = 2 pts, B/C = 1 pt, D/miss = 0. Max for stage: 8 pts (4 rounds). Part of 100-point qualification — pass at 80 pts (80%).
Decelerate over the last 3-5 yards — do not slam to a stop. A controlled deceleration lets you begin mounting the carbine as you arrive at the line. Your first shot should break within a second of your feet planting.
Practice the sprint-to-shoot transition separately. Run 25 yards in kit, stop, and time how long it takes to get a stable sight picture. That recovery time is your budget. Goal: first shot on target within 2 seconds of stopping.
