Stage 5 is the fastest stage in the MARSOC qualification — 2 rounds from low ready at 15 yards within an extremely tight 1.5-second par time. This is a pure speed test with no room for hesitation.
At 1.5 seconds with a carbine, you have roughly 0.8 seconds for the presentation (safety off, mount, optic acquisition) and 0.7 seconds for two shots including the split. In tactical vest and helmet, the mount is slower than in a clean kit — the plate carrier shoulder strap catches the stock, the helmet rim interferes with the cheek weld. Shooters who cannot present the carbine from low ready in under 0.9 seconds will not make this par time with two aimed shots.
Stand facing a Marine E silhouette (or USPSA/IPSC) target at 15 yards. Carbine loaded, on safe, in low ready. Vest and helmet worn. Shot timer set to 1.5-second par.
MARSOC scoring: A zone = 2 pts, B/C = 1, D/miss = 0. Max for stage: 4 pts (2 rounds). The tightest par in the qualification alongside Stage 3.
Pre-load your grip pressure. At low ready, your firing hand should already have full grip tension. When the buzzer sounds, the only actions are: safety off, push out, press. Minimize the vertical travel of the muzzle — a flatter mount is a faster mount.
This is a sub-1.5s drill in full kit. Your presentation must be automatic — any conscious thought about the mechanics costs you the par. Dry fire hundreds of reps in vest and helmet until the mount is muscle memory. Goal: both rounds in A-zone at 1.5s flat.
