Stage 7 repeats the body-head combination from Stage 6 but at closer range and a tighter par. Advance from 10 to 5 yards while firing 2 rounds into the body zone and 1 round into the head zone — 3 rounds within 3.5 seconds.

At close range the target is larger, but the par time is tighter and you are closer to where mechanical offset matters. With a standard 50/200 yard zero, your point of impact at 5-10 yards is 1-2 inches low of your point of aim. For the head shot at close range, this offset can mean the difference between an A-zone hit and a miss on the bottom edge of the head box. Know your offset and compensate.

Range Setup

Setup

Stand facing a Marine E silhouette (or USPSA/IPSC) target at 10 yards. Carbine loaded, on safe, in low ready. Vest and helmet worn. Shot timer set to 3.5-second par. Clear lane for forward movement to 5 yards.

Scoring

MARSOC scoring: A zone = 2 pts, B/C = 1, D/miss = 0. Max for stage: 6 pts (3 rounds — 2 body + 1 head).

Tips

At close range the body shots should be automatic — spend minimal time confirming, fire fast. Save your precision budget for the head shot. Two fast body shots + one deliberate head shot is the winning formula.

Progression

Know your mechanical offset at close range. With a 50/200 zero, your impacts at 5-10 yards are 1-2 inches low. For the head shot, aim slightly high or at the top of the head box. Practice this hold until it is automatic.
