Stage 8 closes Phase 1 with the closest engagement — advance from 7 to 3 yards while firing 2 body shots and 1 head shot in just 3 seconds. This is close-quarters combat distance where speed and violence of action matter.
At 3-7 yards, everything happens fast. The target fills your optic window, the muzzle blast is close enough to feel, and the mechanical offset is at its most pronounced. This stage simulates a CQB room entry scenario — you are closing on a threat and delivering controlled fire while moving aggressively forward. The body-to-head transition at this range tests your ability to shift gears from speed to precision instantly.
Stand facing a Marine E silhouette (or USPSA/IPSC) target at 7 yards. Carbine loaded, on safe, in low ready. Vest and helmet worn. Shot timer set to 3-second par. Clear lane for forward movement to 3 yards.
MARSOC scoring: A zone = 2 pts, B/C = 1, D/miss = 0. Max for stage: 6 pts (3 rounds — 2 body + 1 head). Last stage of Phase 1 (single target, max 48 pts total).
Drive the carbine aggressively forward as you advance. At this range, the optic almost is not needed for body shots — your index and presentation will carry the rounds on target. Reserve your optic confirmation for the head shot only.
At CQB distance the target is close — but do not get sloppy. The mechanical offset at 3-7 yards is real. Verify your point of impact vs point of aim at 5 yards before running this stage. Goal: 6/6 every time.
Shoot, manipulate a prop, shoot again. Train the unfamiliar — levers, ropes, ammo cans — so that nothing on stage…
Three targets touching, then progressively further apart. Find the precise spacing at which your transition speed breaks down.
Mark a line, push across it four times with sight pictures between each move. Pure lateral movement training that doubles…
