B-8 BULLSEYE

A B-8 answers one question: can you put the round where you are looking, with no clock and nothing to blame. It is a scoring bull, not a defensive target — no A-zone, no head box, no transition work.

Ring diameters in inches and in MOA

Measured in the PDF: 8.00 in (203.2 mm, the 8-ring), 5.54 in (9-ring), 3.36 in (10-ring), 1.695 in (X-ring). Those are the published B-8 repair-center dimensions, which is what makes a score here comparable with anyone else shooting the benchmark. This is our own sheet drawn to those reference dimensions — not an NRA-certified target, and no substitute for one at a sanctioned match.

At 7 yards, the distance the linked drill uses, the 8-ring is 109 MOA, the 10-ring 45.8 MOA, the X-ring 23.1 MOA. At the 25 yards the geometry was designed around, those become 30.6, 12.8 and 6.5 MOA (1 MOA = 1.047 in at 100 yd). The 25-yard figure is the honest one — a 6.5 MOA hold is where a service pistol and a clean trigger press stop being interchangeable.

Print at 100% — the 8-ring is the proof

Set the printer to 100% or Actual Size and turn Fit to Page off, then lay a ruler across the outer ring: it must read 8.00 in / 203.2 mm. The 1-inch bar in the footer is the faster check — exactly 25.4 mm in the file. Six percent of scale error, which is what an A4 file printed on Letter with fit-to-page on costs you, drops the 8-ring to 7.53 in and pulls every ring inside it in by the same factor. The rings are drawn as outlines rather than a filled black bull, so you can see the holes you are scoring.

A4 and US Letter

Identical rings in both files. At 203.2 mm the bull is wider than the 194 mm safe area of either page, so it deliberately breaks out of the margin — the alternative is shrinking the rings, and a shrunk B-8 is not a B-8. US Letter is 5.9 mm wider than A4 and carries it with room to spare; on A4 the outer ring runs to the edge of the printable area. The geometry does not change between them.

What to shoot on it

The First Shot Drill is the pairing: one draw, one round at 7 yards, and the hit has to be in the 8-ring or the run does not count, whatever the timer says.

For group work, where you want a bull without the B-8’s ring spacing, the 6-inch bullseye is the nearest sheet: rings at 6, 4.5, 3 and 1.5 inches scoring 7 through 10.
