FAST Drill

This is the body half of Todd Green’s F.A.S.T. — the circle you put four rounds into after the reload. The head half is a real 3 × 5 index card taped above it, not something printed on the page. The sheet scores hits; the run needs a timer.

Circle size in inches and in MOA

The body circle measures 7.000 in / 177.8 mm in the PDF, with a small solid aim dot at center. At the 7-yard working distance it subtends 95.5 MOA; a 3 × 5 card at the same distance is 40.9 MOA across its short dimension. That ratio is the scoring: a head miss costs two seconds, a body miss one.

Our circle is 7 inches, not the 8 of the original spec. Eight inches is 203.2 mm and the printable width of both A4 and US Letter is about 194 mm, so an 8-inch circle cannot be drawn 1:1 on either page. Seven can, and seven is the harder of the two — worth knowing before you compare a time to a published rating.

Why there is no printed head box

There used to be one. A 3 × 5 box above a 7-inch circle at true size is 254 mm of shapes; US Letter offers about 242 mm under the header, so the circle printed off the bottom and the footer ran through it. No layout fixes that at 1:1, and the drill is shot on a real card anyway.

Print at 100% and measure the circle

Set 100% or Actual Size, Fit to Page off, then measure across the circle: 7.000 in / 177.8 mm. The 1-inch bar in the footer is the quick version — exactly 25.4 mm in the file — and the calibration test sheet is the one you print once and keep. Six percent of scale error puts the circle at 6.58 in, making every run harder than the ratings you compare it to.

A4 and US Letter

Same 7.000-inch circle in both; only the page and the log’s column widths change. That is the dimension your score depends on, and it is 1:1 either way — not a given elsewhere. American sheets are usually Letter-only, and a Letter file on A4 with fit-to-page scales to 97.3%; an A4 file on Letter, 94.1%. Neither is the target the ratings were built on.
