Stage 7 is a 5-round string from low ready at 7 yards with a 4-second time limit. It follows the reload stage and tests whether you can settle back into a clean shooting rhythm after the manipulations of Stage 6.

The pace — roughly 0.7 seconds per round — is moderate. The challenge is mental: after the stress of a timed reload, many shooters carry tension into this stage and rush their shots unnecessarily. The 4-second window is tight enough to demand attention but generous enough to allow a deliberate pace.

Range Setup

Setup

Stand facing the FBI-QIT-99 target at 7 yards. Pistol loaded and held in a two-handed low ready position. Shot timer set.

Scoring

Any hit inside the scored area of the FBI-QIT-99 counts as 1 point (max 5). Part of the overall 50-round qualification — passing requires 40/50 (80%).

Tips

Reset mentally after Stage 6. Take a breath before stepping to the line. This is a straightforward stage — do not let residual stress from the reload carry over.

Progression

Focus on consistent splits. Goal: 5/5 hits under 3.5 seconds. If you are making time but dropping shots, slow your splits by 0.1 second — one clean hit is worth more than a fast miss.
