Stage 2 repeats the same format as Stage 1 — draw and fire 2 rounds in 3 seconds, three times — but the distance increases to 5 yards. The extra 2 yards requires a slightly more deliberate sight picture while maintaining the same 3-second par.

This stage tests consistency. Three identical strings mean you get three chances to prove (or break) your draw-to-first-shot timing. If you can clean Stage 1 but drop points here, the issue is likely your sight confirmation at the slightly longer distance.

The LV SWAT Qualification is a 50-round course using USPSA/IPSC targets. A/B zones = 5 pts, C = 4 pts, D = 3 pts. Max 250 points, passing at 90% (225 pts).

Equipment Required

  • Duty or concealed-carry pistol in holster
  • USPSA/IPSC target
  • Minimum 6 rounds of ammunition
  • Shot timer

Range Setup

5 yd / 5 mIPSCDRAW ×1DRAW ×2DRAW ×3END5 yd

Setup

Stand facing a USPSA/IPSC target at 5 yards. Pistol loaded and holstered. Shot timer set to 3-second par.

Scoring

IPSC scoring: A/B = 5 pts, C = 4, D = 3. Max per string: 10 pts. Stage total (3 strings): 30 pts. Qualification passing: 225/250 (90%).

Tips

Treat each string as its own event. Re-holster fully, settle your hands, take a breath. Do not let the pace of the test rush you into a sloppy draw.

Progression

Compare your scores across all three strings. If string 1 is clean but strings 2-3 degrade, work on re-holster mechanics and resetting mentally between reps. Goal: 30/30.
