Stage 9 keeps you at 15 yards but starts from low ready instead of the holster, with a 5-second time limit for 3 rounds. One second less than Stage 8, but no draw to eat into your time — the trade-off is roughly even.

This stage isolates marksmanship at distance without the draw variable. If you can clean Stage 8 but struggle here, the issue is probably your presentation from low ready — you may be muscling the gun up too fast and overshooting your sight picture.

Range Setup

15 yd / 14 mFBI-QIT-99LOW READYEND15 yd

Setup

Stand facing the FBI-QIT-99 target at 15 yards. Pistol loaded and held in a two-handed low ready position. Shot timer set.

Scoring

Any hit inside the scored area of the FBI-QIT-99 counts as 1 point (max 3). Part of the overall 50-round qualification — passing requires 40/50 (80%).

Tips

At 15 yards, your presentation speed matters less than your presentation quality. Drive the gun straight to the target — no arcing or overshooting — and break the shot the instant the sights settle.

Progression

Benchmark: 3/3 hits under 4 seconds from low ready. If you are dropping shots, slow your presentation and add a deliberate pause at full extension to confirm sights.
